Examination rules
The examination of the expected learning outcomes (ELOs, see Syllabus) consists of two parts: (1) assignments (both written and oral components) and (2) a follow-up oral examination. Both parts are individual examinations.
Assignments
The assignments are written home-assignments that must be handed in at given deadlines and will be graded Pass (G) or fail (U). Moreover, each student must present parts of an assignment orally, also graded Pass (G) or Fail (U).
Follow-up oral exam
The oral exam is 20 minutes long and consists of follow-up questions based on the answers to the assignments. To do the oral exam the assignments need to be Passed by a given deadline.
Final grade
The final grade on the course is given after all examinations are graded Pass (G). For the final grade Pass (G), the grade Pass (G) is required on all assignments, and the follow-up oral exam. For the grade Pass with distinction (VG) the grade Pass (G) is required on all assignments and the grade Pass with distinction (VG) is required on the follow-up oral exam. For PhD students there is no Pass with distinction grade.
