Welcome to the course Statistics in Medicine!

The course is designed to provide students with a versatile understanding of statistical methods and their applications in the field of medicine. For more information, see the course Syllabus.

Course organization

  • Much of the course will involve self-studies supported by recommended reading, recorded lectures, quizzes, practice exercises and discussion forums.
  • We will have weekly workshops (in a hybrid format, see more below) where you will work in smaller groups to solve exercises, e.g., analyzing data using R and discussing concepts, with support from teachers. Times and links for these are available in the Course schedule.
  • In addition to discussion forums and e-mail contact there will also be weekly online supervision times (via Zoom) dedicated to your questions. Times and links for these are available in the Course schedule.
  • All course material will be made available under Modules on the course web page. 
  • The only mandatory course activities are the examinations, which consist of:
    • An article review seminar (8-10 or 10-12 on Jan 29) (hybrid format).
    • A written examination with a follow-up oral examination on Feb 14 (via Zoom, you will be able to book a timeslot)

Hybrid format

  • The course introduction, workshops and article review seminar will be given in a hybrid format with the possibility to participate either on campus or remotely via Zoom.
  • On campus participation will be in the Learning lab (map).
  • You will be free to select your mode of participation regardless of if you are registered to the campus or online course. You can also vary your participation mode during the course, participating in some sessions on campus and some via Zoom according to what works best for you.
